You have an important party any day now and you would like to look stunning? Unfortunately… you’ve been busy and maybe had some worse days. And now you’re suffering because of not being able to keep your lips in a good shape.
1. Exfoliation of the dead skin
Lip scrubs are very important. Accumulation of dead skin cells on the lips makes it difficult for the moisture to go to the surface, making the lips extremely dry. Using a scrub on your lips will exfoliate them and get rid of the layer of dry and scaly skin. As a result, your lips will become soft and plump. This will also enhance their natural color as circulation improves. Sugar is an excellent exfoliator that can be found in any kitchen and used to treat chapped lips (below you will find a simple recipe for a homemade peeling).
An alternative, more gentle method:
Take a warm and wet face cloth and gently exfoliate your lips, massaging them with the cloth in circles.
2. Good hydration
Moisturizing your mouth is very important whether you have dry lips or not. Nourishing and Moisturizing our lips should be a constant part of everyday skin care. Always keep a Moisturizing lipstick with you and use it on your lips several times a day. More often if you feel they’re in worse shape.
3. Mouth masks
Just like face masks, Lip masks increase the supply of nutrients and hydration in the lips. You can buy such a mask or do it yourself. You will find the recipe below.
4. Night care
Night time lip care is just as crucial as the night time skin care routine. At night, when you sleep, your skin regenerates intensively, so before you go to bed, apply a thicker layer of ointment with vitamin A+E or with lanolin to your lips. In the morning you will wake up with soft and smooth lips.
5. Drink plenty of water
Hydration is extremely important. Drink plenty of fluids to replenish moisture. This will greatly improve the softness and firmness of your lips, as well as the rest of your skin, and also improve your mood.
Homemade ways to deal with chapped lips
Sweet Lip Peeling
Mix a teaspoon of sugar with a teaspoon of your favorite oil, e.g. coconut or olive oil, then massage thoroughly into the mouth and rinse. It is worth to do this peeling 1-2 times a week. Remember to protect your lips with a regenerating lipstick immediately after such treatment.
Mask with Honey and Rose Water
Mix the honey with rose water and put it on your mouth for about 15 minutes, then wash off. Honey and rosehip water help prevent cracking and provide deep hydration.
Honey Mask with Cottage Cheese
Mix honey with full fat cottage cheese and apply a thick layer of the mixture to your mouth. Refrain from licking. This mask is best left for half an hour.
Use coconut oil (necessarily cold-pressed and unrefined) on the lips for immediate hydration. Coconut oil is easily and quickly absorbed. It also helps the body to absorb more vitamin E, which works by preventing the production of free radicals harmful to cells.
